Artsy Fun Learning

Links to this post
Just a few fun things Graham and Parker have done lately!

Counting with dollar tree/ target dollar bin plastic reusable ice cubes

Spooning marbles into empty water bottles, and then they made up fun marble games too!
They made up a game where they make the marbles go across the tray, and then try to trap one with the bottle while the marbles are moving all over the tray!

Building letters! You can get them HERE!

I made them a jellyfish decoration out of iridescent beading cord, iridescent (cardstock) scrapbook paper, a bowl from the dollar tree, tape, and hot glue gun!  I folded the paper in half and cut it into double sided shapes. It's kind of it's own species of jellyfish. I am calling it the rainbow jellyfish. Then poked a hole into the top center. Then I put the cord through and knotted it underneath. I taped the cord and then taped the shapes closed from the inside. Then I hot glued the other end of the cord to the bowl., which by the way came off the spool curly (bonus!!) The cord was from the section at Michaels where they keep the kids beading materials. Like for friendship bracelets.  The bowl was from a 4 pack, or 6 pack at the dollar tree... (can not remember.) We use these bowls for a lot of things with our learning activities. I had an extra though so, I decided to make them a jellyfish with it!  I think this is a craft you can do with a child ages 3-5 or older. I just wanted to make them something, It was not a pain to make but it would be slightly difficult for a child to do the hot gluing to the bowl part. I glued on the decorative pattern seams on the bowl.

Playing with their fiber optic color changing light. You can get it HERE!

we read the gingerbread man and decorated gingerbread man cookies... and ate them! yum!

decided to be cool guys and wear sunglasses to sort bears by color, lace shapes from Lauri peg and stacker set. They used the lacing strings from another lacing set we have.

made some cool designs with wedgits on the mirror table...which has a new set of lights on it!

used clothespins to pick up and sort pom poms by color into small bowls

had a lot of fun with an early Christmas gift, a rocker board! (purchased from Bella Luna toys)

sorted Christmas themed acrylic circles into tiny acrylic jars and used light table letters to spell words from picture/word cards. Their friend Garland enjoyed it too!

Science Center and Pumpkin Patch

Links to this post
Last week we took a field trip day, we went to the Science Center and the Pumpkin Patch!  The Science Center is one of Graham and Parker's favorite places to go! They are always asking to go to the Science Center or Zoo!! I did not take a lot of pictures, but I took a few special ones of the Alligators because we made it for the feeding! This was the first time we were there for the Alligator feeding! They loved it. They were given a handful of feed pellets. Technically they did not just feed the Alligators, there are fish and turtles in there too! One of the turtles is an Alligator snapping turtle, they are so funky!!  They had so much fun at the pumpkin patch too! Parker kept doing somersaults in between the aisles of pumpkins!!  He was having a blast! I kept trying to get a really cute pic of them, but Graham was not very cooperative. Check out the hilarious pics of where Parker landed after his somersaults!!  It was hilarious! They found a puddle to splash and play in right before we went home.  ;)

the snapping turtle is the one in the front left
